About veg tan leather:
There are several methods for tanning leather, the two most commonly used are chrome-tanning and aldehyde-tanning. Chrome-tanning is fast and effective, but its use of chromium salts is harmful to the environment as well as human health. Aldehyde-tanning is chrome free but its base chemical is still dangerous and toxic. Vegetable-tanning takes much longer time but it doesn’t use harmful chemicals. It’s an old-world, artisans process that takes advantage from the tannic acids naturally found in plants, i.e., barks, branches, leaves and even some fruits. Veg tan leather has much less footprint on the earth. It can last an entire lifetime and is bio-degradable when it ceases to be used. Its colors and textures have a more natural organic look and it has neutral effect on user’s health.
